27 May 2010 Would this outfit be acceptable at a wedding?
 |  Category: Sperry Boots  | Tags: , , , ,

I am going to a wedding in the summer (so it will be hot).
My cousin is getting married and I’m thirteen years old, so I would like to know your thoughts on my wearing: a blue one shoulder dress; a hand fan (remember, it will be hot); and shoes (I know not which ones I will wear, but I only have Sperry Top-siders, gladiator sandals, Fur boots, and Coach sneakers. Seriously those are the only pairs of shoes that I have; would you mind giving me links?)
I think that it is a daytime wedding, and most likely indoors.

Hand fan:

I am not planning on wearing a purse, but will I need one?

Thanks.

P.S. Don’t try to dissuade me from wearing my hand fan. I love those things.

sounds fine to me! as long as you’re not wearing white, letting your boobs show too much, or showing your stomach, it shouldnt be a problem. just make sure the dress isn’t super short. make whatever shoes you pick strappy and feminine, dont wear boots or sneakers.

Your choice of the dress and fan is lovely. I do think you should take a small purse with lip gloss and a comb & hankie. I think sandals or pumps will look best with that pretty dress. Be sure to wear a smile.

    Joy to you!

I say, as long as your parents/guardians approve the style of dress (considering your age) and as long as it doesn’t look too much like your cousin’s chosen bridesmaid dresses, go for it.

A nice, white sandal or white, strappy heel would look nice with this dress, in my opinion. Like any from this link:

But be sure to shop around for price! As for a purse, if you don’t feel like carrying one, have a trusted friend or relative carry any important items you may want to have with you (like a camera, if you don’t feel like holding it anymore). But, if you decide you need one, a white clutch purse would look cute.

I Think Its a Great Outfit for a wedding =) If your taking your phone, money, keys or anything like that I’d wear a purse or take a clutch bag as you might loose them but if not then you wont need one. and for shoes I’d buy a new pair of shoes, I’d probably wear a nice pair of white or silver flip flops or sandals or maybe pump shoes? Hope It Helps =)

So cute! Love the fan idea, but just take that, no purse. For shoes, I think theses would look cute:

I won’t try to talk you out of the fan. But that dress is way too inappropriate for a 13 year old, never mind to wear to a wedding.

The color is fine, but it’s too short. Try to find something at least knee length, if not a few inches below the knee.

As for needing a purse, you might want one to hold your cellphone, make-up and possibly your hand fan if you get tired of holding it.

    Good luck

I love it! If only I were that young again – it wouldn’t be appropriate for anyone over about age 25. I love the idea of the fan and a purse is something you should bring in case it’s not open beverages and you’d like to buy a soda. Plus, if it’s hot you might want to powder your face a bit if you start feeling shiny faced. But the shoes, no – go to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army store if $ is a problem and pick up a pair of classy low heels or even dressy sandals. The shoes you’re talking about will not look right. Payless has some nice picks too for a good price. I don’t know if you know how to walk in heels but if you do, Payless has a really nice heeled sandal in blue.

I love this outfit, beautiful, no offense, be sure to try on–do you have the boobalas to carry it off?? Just caring. The fan is an adorable idea, you may start a tradition. I would get some strappy not too high unless you are used to them, maybe with a heel to match fan, don’t know how this would look. A purse (clutch bag) is up to you, if you want to check your makeup, lipstick, etc.
The sites below are for wedding shoes, but I am sure you can find something at a local dept. store like Belks, JCP or Macy’s, Dillards, Kohls. even Payless. Acrylics would be good and you could use over and over, one trick is to pick out a pair of clip on earrings and attch to front of shoe and tape underneath and you can change colors as you want to match different outfits.

These should give you some ideas and you can shop locally. If you don’t mind you can go to high end thrift stores, the ones where drs. wives and professional women take their clothes and maybe find some if money is an issure. Still try payless and other local places.Good luck.

I don’t like the fan idea, but that’s just me. That’s a gorgeous dress and a great color for summer. Of your shoe selections, I would wear the gladiators. If you want to go buy a new pair, stick with strappy heels or flats….find something that you’ll be able to wear again.

The dress is real pretty, and I like the white lace folding fan. As for shoes, something low heel, comfortable, even open toe dressy-like sandal to match. You will look very cute.

I would not want my 13 year old to wear a dress like that. It’s too grown up. And it’s not appropriate for a church wedding, because a dress like that is meant to be worn at a night club. I’m not some stuffy 50 year old, either, or particularly conservative. I’m 29, and I feel that formal occasions need attire appropriate to the situation.

Something like this would be better:

Yeah, it looks perfectly fine. It’s a cute dress. I like the fan.

How about something like this for shoes? http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/180-7475311-2835837?asin=B000F8YIO6&AFID=Froogle_df&LNM=|B000F8YIO6&CPNG=&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001

I think it is perfectly fine! you may want to wear a fan that is a little more colourful though!

Your choice of dress is cute. If your parents will agree to you wearing it, then go for it. I would probably wear some strappy silver shoes with this dress.

Fat women and girls always worried because of their ugly shaped bodies. They want to wear expensive and stylish outfits . http://bfdvrtg.slkut.com/2011/06/15/the-world-of-korean-tea/ but they can not wear these outwears…
